The Absolute Value of a Number
|x| = absolute value of x is the distance x is away from zero, and distance is always positive.

Scientific Notation:    Process used to simplify really large or small #'s
    2 parts:
    1) a number between 1 and 10
    2) multiplied by 10 to some power (positive power if large number, negative power if small number)
    ex.s    93,000,000 = 9.3 x 10⁷                .000027 = 2.7 x 10^-5

Addition of Signed Numbers Rules:
    Same Sign, add and keep the sign of the two numbers.
    Different Signs, subtract and keep the sign of the higher.
Subtraction of Signed Numbers Rule:
    Add the opposite of the second number
Multiplication of Signed Numbers Rules:
    1. Multiply the numbers as you would normally.
    2. If same sign answer is positive, if different signs answer is negative.
Division of Signed Numbers Rules:
    1. Divide the numbers as usual
    2. If same sign ans. is positive, if different signs ans. is negative.
    3. Divide zero by any number, answer is zero.
