Properties of Numbers

Commutative property: a + b = b + a or ab=ba
Associative property: (a + b) + c = a + (b + c) or a(bc)=(ab)c
Distributive property: a(b + c)= ab + ac
Identity element of addition: 0, a + 0 = a
Identity element of multiplication: 1, a(1) = a
Additive inverse: a + (-a) = 0
Multiplication property of zero: a(0) = 0
Multiplicative inverse (Reciprocal of a #): a(1/a) = 1
