Pine Bush Karate opened its doors on November 11, 1994 in Pine Bush New York. Its first location was in Ball Games, a fitness Center across the street from Pine Bush High School. In 1997 Pine Bush Karate moved from Ball Games to its present location in the Village Centre on Main Street in Pine Bush New York. The Instructor at Pine Bush Karate is Sa Bom Nim Alan Friedman. Alan Friedman began the martial arts in the Bronx New York at the age of 15. There he studied Shorinji-Kenpo under Sensei Glanz and Jiu-Jitsu, and Karate under Sensei Randy Schwartzberg. He studied for 6 years under his teacher until an accident took Sensei Schwartzberg's life. Mr. Friedman joined the International Tang Soo Do Federation in 1989. Master Friedman is a direct student of Grand Master Chun Sik Kim.
Mr. Friedman received his Sa Bom Nim from Master C.S. Kim in Panama on August 4th 2002. Sa Bom Nim Friedman was tested directly by Choeng Jang Nim C.S. Kim and passed his Oh Dan testing in October 2007.
Master Friedman is a certified high school Mathematics teacher at the Pine Bush Central School District.
Kyo Sa Nim Kate Friedman has been training since she was 6 years old, and presently is pursuing a degree in Veterinary Medicine Kyo Sa kate will graduate in 2009. Kyo Sa Nim comes home every 3 months to train with Sa Bom Nim
Jonathan Friedman, Sa Bom Nim's son is an Eedan and graduated in Dec 2007 Magna Cum Laude from Touro College in Chinese Medicine in Manhattan N.Y..
